How PDF Translation Works Across Languages
Translation quality and layout depend on how the tool handles scripts, direction, and structure.
- Font handling: The output PDF embeds or uses fonts that support the target language. Latin, Cyrillic, Arabic, and CJK scripts each need appropriate Unicode fonts so that characters render correctly and no glyphs are missing.
- Tables: Table structure is preserved; cell content is translated and alignment is kept. For RTL languages, cell direction is set so that columns and headers align correctly.
- RTL vs LTR: Right-to-left languages (e.g. Arabic, Hebrew) get correct base direction and bidirectional ordering. Mixed LTR and RTL content (e.g. numbers, English phrases) is ordered according to Unicode bidirectional rules.
- Multi-column layouts: Columns are maintained where possible. Text reflow and column breaks are applied so that the translated text fits the layout without breaking alignment.
